About the School

Educating with values, learning for life

Scholar Public School was founded to give the children of Mau an education that would stand comparison with any city school, without asking families to send their children away from home.

What began as a small primary school in Aliya Nagar has grown into a full school serving students from the earliest years through to the senior classes. Growth has been deliberate: we have added a section at a time, and only once we had the teachers to staff it properly.

Our approach is unfashionably simple. Children learn best when they are known — when the person teaching them notices that they have gone quiet, or that they have suddenly grasped something they struggled with last week. Everything about how the school is organised, from the size of our sections to the fact that the principal teaches, follows from that.

We are equally clear that a school is accountable to the families it serves. Parents can see their child’s attendance, homework, marks and fee position at any hour, and they can raise a query or a complaint and expect a tracked, answered response.

What we stand for

Our values

Four commitments that shape how the school is run day to day.

  • Discipline with warmth

High expectations, held kindly. Children rise to what is asked of them when they feel safe.

  • Honesty about progress

Parents get the real picture of how their child is doing, early enough to act on it.

  • Respect for every family

No child is treated differently for their background, and no parent is made to feel unwelcome.

  • Learning that lasts

We teach for understanding rather than for the next examination alone.
